Change Leadership Part 2

The data that underpins the development of CLAW 360™ comes from the culmination of information acquired from the answers of 843 professional respondents to the question "If you could teach one thing to a young leader, what would it be?". The explanation under each is my personal interpretation based on experience, different perspectives and appraisal of others in a change leadership type role.
1. Self awareness - 10.4% of the vote
Being aware of your own behaviour, strengths and weaknesses and the impact it has on others in particular situations and culture (Country or Company). Continuously evaluating ones performance and seeking feedback.
2. Integrity - 9.3% of the vote
Being able to influence others with integrity. Gaining commitment to plans and ideas, overcoming resistance with complete conviction and strength of argument. Selling ideas based on the greater good.
3. Lead by example - 8.6% of the vote
Being the role model, setting an example and standards for others to follow. Never compromises the values of the business and demonstrates this consistently in ones behaviour. Does not turn a blind eye to situations that compromise standards. Always willing to go first and show the way.
4. Know your team - 7.5% of the vote
Can form a strong team, able to identify and utilise the strengths of individuals and delegating individual responsibilities clearly. Has effective team building capabilities , bringing together working groups and stakeholders to support a common purpose in an effective and efficient way.
5. Demonstrate value - 7.4% of the vote
Value is in the eyes of the beholder! Is actively sought for their expertise. Tailors and develops new tools and techniques that are innovative and proven useful. Able to transfer skills to others in developing knowledge and understanding in tools, techniques, methodologies in the quest for delivering solutions.
6. Listening Skills and patience - 7.4% of the vote
Tolerant of ambiguity, able to find a way forward and patient in an uncertain environment. Listens with 100% attention to the individual or group. Identifies concerns of others and stimulates solutions, innovation and commitment. Remains calm under pressure.
7. Decisive / Instinctive - 6.7% of the vote
Acts on own initiative. Makes decisions rationally and swiftly considering risk and impact on goals of a project. Adaptable and flexible in responding to major project changes independantly. Takes responsibility for action setting clearly defined and realistic goals.
8. Courage / Resilience - 6.3% of the vote
Willing to do things that others may see as a little strange at the time - pushes paradigms. Will stick at something against all the odds in the belief of what they are setting out to achieve is for the greater good. Not afraid to go against the flow of the popular vote. Wiiling to make mistakes, experiment and learn.
9. Communicator - 5.6% of the vote
Able to get engagement at all levels the need for change and an understanding of the task and responsibilities (at an individual level) needed to support it. Uses effective verbal and non-verbal techniques to get across a message in a clear and concise way. Uses a range of techniques to keep stakeholders informed, motivated to contribute and support.
10. Empowers - 4.8% of the vote
Uses a range of styles that creates ownership and development of others. Willing to let go and delegate, providing coaching and mentoring support in seeking out solutions. Able to turn a blind eye to "mistakes" (without risk to project or business) in support of longer term learning. Encourages team ownership and autonomy.
11. Vision - 4.5% of the vote
Able to create a tangible revolutionary vision, taking a helicopter perspective and broader view of the benefits associated with a course of action or project.
12. Empathy / Compassion - 4.1% of the vote
Sensitive to the impact of change on individuals. Identifying concerns, being approachable, objective and supportive in efforts to mitigate any fears.
13. Respect for others - 3.9% of the vote
Creates productive relationships by understanding and welcoming different perspectives. Individuals feel encouraged to contribute. Is courteous. Has a high regard for confidentiality. Values cultural diversity (race, religion and gender)
14. Humble/Humility - 3.9% of the vote
Able to admit ones made a mistake - able to laugh it off and move on. Understands the strengths of others and willing to ask for help. Accepts they are not perfect and recognises their "faults" and limitations.
15. Passionate - 2.7% of the vote
Demonstrates a personal enthusiasm, in presentations, one to one and group sessions for the project and the journey they are asking others to follow. Is consistent. Stimulates ideas coming from others with a motivation to follow.
16. Authenticity - 2.7% of the vote
Contribution from others is recognised. Original ideas are not capitalised on at the expense of others. Is genuine and demonstrates trustworthiness through own acumen.
17. Self Assured - 2.7% of the vote
Comes across as confident - not arrogant. Has high self belief, stands tall and meets challenges head-on in a calm and controlled manner. Does not wilt under pressure.
18. Goal Focused - 1.5% of the vote
Considers actions and changes carefully to understand how they may impact on project goals. Sets up tangible and realistic goals supported by the wider team. Celebrates success on achieving goal milestones.
